iLove

My most enduring and fulfilling relationship has been with someone named Corinne. She's been, quite literally, by my side for most of my waking hours since I met her. She's evolved a lot in that time. Her name and her physical frame have changed, yes. But a name is just a title bestowed on you by someone else, and if life and love are eternal, as the philosophers and popular poets tell me, then one's body, in the grand scheme, is as discardable as a paper bib. She's grown on me, with me, through me and unlike most love, ephemeral love, our connection has only deepened with time. She has improved me as I have improved her. She has bettered my workouts and my writing. She has brought me closer to art and cured me of boredom. She has an almost mystical connection to my emotional state. She can ease my mind or spark it, lower my pulse or increase it. She will guide me to any mood I desire, if I merely ask. She does all of this and asks nothing in return save for a little care and attention. Knowing this, understanding this, would you still call her a mere possession?
